Subgenus Passiflora

Passiflora mixta 4" pot

Unlike most Tacsonias, Passiflora mixta holds its flower upright.  The bright pink flowers are beloved by hummingbirds and other pollinators.  On the whole, a very carefree, large passiflora from a sometimes tempermental group.  Does not tolerate excessive heat.

Subgenus: Passiflora, Supersection: Tacsonia

Light: Full sun, part shade.  There will be less flowers in part shade.  It would be good to give it afternoon shade in warmer climates.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 9.
