Stefania Mattiuzzo Passion Flower. Very beautiful hybrid from passiflora breeder Carlos Ibarra. The flowers have some of the fanciest filaments you could wish for! Dark, almost blackish in the center, the corona radiates out with bands of purple, lavender and white. If pollinated by another passionflower, it produces round yellow fruits with a sweet pulp.
Subgenus: Passiflora. (Passiflora sidifolia x Passiflora umbilicata) Carlos Ibarra's hybrid named for the Treasurer of the Passiflora Society International. Photos courtesy of Chuck Chan.
Light: Full sun. In warm climates, it benefits from some shade in the afternoon.
Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.
Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.
Hardiness: Zone 9.
