Lachenalia viridiflora 2 bloom size bulbs

Turquoise Lachenalia.    Stunning is really the only word to describe this flower.  The color is an unbelievable icy, turquoise blue held on a stalk well above attractive spotted foliage.  One of the treasures of South Africa's winter growing region, sadly, this bulb is endangered and it is estimated that it will be extinct in the wild within the next 10 years.  Despite its rarity, it is really very east to grow both in the garden or in a pot (to keep those startling flowers at eye level!)  The tubular flower are pollinated by sunbirds in South Africa, and are very attractive to hummingbirds everywhere else!  Dormant during the summer.

(Hyacinthaceae) Viridiflora=green flowered.   2 bulbs are included with each order. This bulb will ship when dormant from spring through late summer.  If you place an order with other plants when it is still growing, it will ship separately later.  Photo courtesy of Rod and Rachel Saunders.
