Passiflora 'Cocktail Orange' 4" pot

Large, pumpkin orange flowers like it's mother, Passiflora parritae, this is an easier to grow hybrid from passiflora breeder Carlos Rendon. The flowers are a huge 7.5" across!  If you live in a mild climate and want to make a striking statement with the street tree out front, this is the plant to grow on it....and send me a picture!  I would have the vapors if I saw something like this growing in a front yard!  It will also produce edible fruit if pollinated.

Keep in mind that it will not tolerate hot weather, though, so if your temps stay in the eighties and don't cool down at night for weeks at a time, you will probably have trouble keeping it alive.  There are also grafted plants for sale that are rumored to be more heat tolerant.

Subgenus: Passiflora, Supersection: Tacsonia (P. parritae x P. 'Mission Dolores')

Light: Full sun, part shade.  There will be less flowers in part shade.  It would be good to give it afternoon shade in warmer climates.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 9.
