Passiflora vitifolia 4" pot

Grape-Leaved Passion Flower. Large red flowers are borne in abundance. Tolerates warm conditions. Yellow, mottled, edible fruit. Trilobed, reddish leaves.  This is the true species grown from seed collected in Costa Rica, not a hybrid with P. miniata that is mostly sold in trade.

Subgenus: Passiflora, Supersection: Coccinea.  Food plant for Heleconius hecale and H. cydno.

Light: Full sun, part shade.  There will be less flowers in part shade.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 10.
