Passiflora nitida 4" pot

Size

Bell Apple.  Water Lemon. Prized both for excellent fruit and beautiful flowers. The fragrant flowers have white petals and long, curly filaments thickly banded with purple.

Native to South America, it has been a very easy grower for me.  The vine is has large leathery leaves and heavy stems, so be ready to provide a sturdy support.

Subgenus: Passiflora, Supersection: Laurifolia, Section: Laurifoliae.  Fruit photo courtesy of Maurizio Vecchia.

Light: Full sun, part shade.  There will be less flowers in part shade.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 11.
