Another shrubby passiflora with clusters of bright red flowers. This species is almost never seen for sale. It's a smaller plant with more delicate branches than some of the other Astropheas. Tolerates hot weather and tropical conditions, but I haven't had any trouble in my sometimes cool (50 degrees F!) greenhouse. I haven't tried it, but the fruit is reported to be small but tasty.
Subgenus: Astrophea, Supersection: Pseudoastrophea, Section: Botryastrophea, Series: Botryastrophea
Light: Full sun.
Water: Moderate.
Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.
Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.
Hardiness: Zone 12.
