The caudex is about 4" wide, deeply furrowed, and covered flaky bark. During active growth, the woody base sends out long, wiry stems covered with glossy, bright green, heart-shaped leaves. Excellent container specimen and conversation piece that is highly sought by collectors. The pictures of the enormous specimen in the ground were taken at Huntington Botanical Gardens.
