Passiflora caerulea 4" pot

Blue Crown Passion Flower. Hardy Passion Flower. A smaller, diploid version of Clear Sky, it has 4 inch flowers with white petals and blue corona filaments.  The flowers have a delicious, fruity fragrance that smells like guavas. Bright orange, highly ornamental fruit. The fruit is edible, but not known for its flavor.   Hardy to 15 degrees F!  If the top is damaged by frost, it will sprout from underground, tuberous roots.  This is a very large vine, so it will need a lot of room.  It is ideal for covering fences and screens rapidly.

Subgenus: Passiflora, Supersection: Stipulata, Section: Granadillastrum

Light: Full sun, part shade.  There will be less flowers in part shade.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 8 or lower in a sheltered site.
