Thuraia Passion Flower. Dainty, purple/pink flowers with banded filaments and reflexed petals. The vine is slender with small leaves colored purple on the underside. Very nice vine for hanging baskets or in a containers as a houseplant.

(Passiflora kermesina x P. miersii) Mauro Peixoto's hybrid.

Light: Full sun, part shade.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hummingbird smashes head into P. Thuraia!

We have had this plant for several yrs. in Sou. Cal. zone 10. The stems are thin & lightweight. We couldn't imagine growing this on a fence, so we planted in a big pot with an angel's trumpet plant in dappled shade. Thuraia grew up the bush, then down the other side; dangling it's crazy flowers. Now it has been looped around several times, and the angel trumpet is doing just fine. The vine is growing right next to my in-the-shade chair. I was recently frightened when a resident Allens hummer just smashed it's head into one of the flowers. You'll have to watch out for the hummers!

Beautiful foliage

I just got my plant and foliage is gorgeous. Delicate leaves are burgundy on one side. Even though it came in a small pot they generously me a two foot vine in impeccable health.

Here's hoping I can get it to flower.
