Passiflora edulis flavicarpa 4" pot

Yellow Edible Passion Fruit. More disease resistant than P. edulis, this plant is frequently used as a rootstock for Purple Passion Fruit when grown commercially. The flowers are larger and have a dark purple center. Very sweetly scented. The fruit is more acidic and considered inferior to P. edulis, but is still very good for fresh eating, juices, jellies, and deserts.  Does not tolerate heavy pruning. Must have a separate passion vine to set fruit.

Subgenus: Passiflora, Supersection: Passiflora, Section: Passiflora.

Light: Full sun/part shade.  If grown in part shade, there will be less flowers.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 10.
