Very showy, very large flowers with red and white petals and long, curly purple and white filaments. Very sweetly fragrant. Similar to Passiflora phoenicia and Passiflora alata which will all pollinate each other. The fruit is very large with a smaller amount of sweet pulp, but a thick, melon-like rind that is cooked as a vegetable in the tropics.

Light: Full sun, part shade. There will be less flowers in part shade.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 11.
