Subgenus Passiflora

Passiflora ligularis 4" pot

Sweet Granadilla.  This passiflora has one of the best fruit of any passion fruit. It also has beautiful blue and white flowers with large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves.  This species is grown commercially for its sweet, orangish, egg-shaped fruits.

Dislikes overly warm weather and may be hard to get to fruit in a pot.  Needs a different passion vine to pollinate it in order to get fruit.

Subgenus: Passiflora.  Photo courtesy of John Ocampo.

Light: Full sun, part shade.  There will be less flowers in part shade.

Water: Moderate.

Soil: A wide range of soil, but it must be well-drained.

Fertilizer: A slow-release, bloom-booster type fertilizer is appreciated, but beware of using a fertilizer with too much nitrogen as it may push leaves at the expense of flowers.

Hardiness: Zone 10.
